CSS Conf Australia 2015

Posted in Web Development on the 30th of March 2015 by @aaronrutley

I was lucky enough to attend CSS Conf AU 2015 in Melbourne last week.

This was my first CSS Conf, I was blown away by the quality and caliber of the speakers from Australia and across the globe. I was impressed by how professional the conference was organised, the character of the venue (Arts House Meat Market in North Melbourne), and the free coffee. The food trucks like Mr Burger & Taco Truck for lunch was a nice touch!

Some of the highlights talks for me included:

  • Harry Roberts – A great in depth talk on the techniques and options available when allowing clients / users to theme our UI projects.
  • Scott Jehl – A great talk about some techniques we can use to boost perceived performance.
  • Sara Soueidan – Awesome talk on the power of SVGs over Icon fonts and CSS.

I also enjoyed Decompress on Saturday which was a less formal, community day for designers & developers with lots of thought provoking lighting talks.

A few of my fellow attendees have really great in depth summaries of CSS Conf on their blogs which you can check out here:
